I agree the Hong Kong Institute of Acoustics and its vendors or service providers of the Hong Kong Soundscape – A Sound Map Creation Competition to use my personal data and any information provided for enrollment, statistics, liaison and promotional uses.

Terms and Conditions

  • Entrants must hold the Hong Kong permanent identity card. Entrants aged below 18 must have obtained the consent from their parents / guardians.
  • Each entry, including audio, text, image (and video if any), must fall into any one of the following themes: “Urban City”, “Nature Scenery” and “Cultural Landscape”.
  • Each entrant can submit only one entry under each theme.
  • Once an entry is submitted, it cannot be modified or replaced and will not be returned to the entrant.
  • Any entry must be the original work of the entrant and does not infringe upon the rights (including intellectual property rights, rights of privacy or confidentiality) of any other parties. Entrants are responsible for all legal liabilities. Shall their entries violate any laws, the Organizer will not be held legally responsible.
  • Entries should not promote a commercial enterprise or a political cause, or contain abusive language, pornographic, obscene, indecent, defamatory, insinuating, libelous or violent content. No disgusting languages or actions, or content that violates the law of HKSAR are allowed. Entrants will be disqualified if they violate any of the rules and regulations stated above.
  • If entries of entrants are coincidentally the same, the earlier submission will be regarded as the valid submission according to the submission time recorded by the Online Enrollment System.
  • Entrants shall understand and agree to grant and assign exclusively to the Organizer all the intellectual property rights and the use of the copyright of the winning entry. The Organizer also has the authority to edit, translate, adapt, use, copy and distribute, in whole or in part of the entries without any need for prior consent of or payment of fees to the entrants and without frequency, geographical and time limit.
  • The judging panel will decide the shortlisted and winning entries in their sole and absolute discretion. In the event of any dispute, the Organizer reserves the right of final decisions.
  • All winners are required to provide their Hong Kong Identity Cards, student ID cards or any other valid documents for verification purposes.
  • Entrants must be Hong Kong residents. The Competition is not open to employees of the Organizer and people involved in organizing the Competition.
  • Entrants are to abide by the Organizer’s decision on all matters relating to the Competition, which shall be final. This includes the right to interpret, amend, cancel or suspend the terms and conditions, prizes and other arrangements of the Competition without prior notice.

Online Application Remarks

  • Entrants and parents or guardians of entrants under the age of 18 must read all parts of the Terms and Conditions.
  • The Online Enrollment System will be open until 23:59 on 24 Feb 2019 (Sun). To ensure timely submissions, entrants are strongly advised to complete their online applications as early as possible in order to avoid any last-minute rush of applications, which may overload the system.
  • Information and latest news will be announced on the Institute’s Facebook Page. Entrants are advised to follow the Facebook Page and turn on notifications on the Page. Entrants will also be notified of any news and events relating to the Competition by e-mail. Entrants are advised to provide their frequently used e-mail and check their e-mail regularly.
  • Entrants will be notified of their entry no. by email upon successful application.
  • All personal data provided must be true and accurate.
