Completed in 1978, Wah Fu Estate accommodated schools, banks, market, library, restaurants as well as multi-storey carpark with recreational area on the rooftop. The architects vision in the 1960s is still powerful nowadays, the scope of designing Wah Fu was like creating a small city in Europe. Almost half a century later the "new town" evolved into a vibrant community with rich and varied village life. The modern villagers plays Chinese operas at its communal stage, eats at its local deli exercise at the terrace playground with seaview, & plays at its seashore park. Announced in 2014, this hidden urban treasure, with residents probably resettled by 2025, will be redeveloped into 21,000 flats, housing a population of 61,000. As a chronicle, our record encapsulates this ambitious livable mini city that is a mirror reflecting our city of Hong Kong.
